Reliance Jio‘s 4G services are yet to be officially launched, but its preview offer is already the talk of the town. Despite being in the ‘testing’ phase, the company has already amassed over two million users, something that has not gone unnoticed by rival network operators. As the company extends its preview offer to more smartphone companies, people are standing outside Reliance Digital and Reliance Digital Xpress Mini stores in long queues akin to a new Apple iPhone launch. What started out as an exclusive deal for Reliance Digital’s LYF smartphone buyers, has now expanded to over 10 smartphone companies.
In essence, if you own one of the compatible 4G smartphones, you are eligible to get a free Jio SIM card bundled with the 90-day Jio Preview offer. This offer provides users with unlimited mobile data, HD voice calls, messages and access to Jio’s suite of apps like JioPlay, JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioXpressNews, JioSecurity, JioDrive, JioMags and JioMoney among others. Apps like JioPlay lets you watch live TV on the go, JioOnDemand lets you watch the movies from the company’s library, JioBeats is the company’s music streaming service, and JioMoney is a digital wallet that lets you transfer money to other people, as well as pay utility and various other kinds of bills.
How to get a free Jio SIM card
One needs to first head over to the Google Play Store to download the MyJio app on their compatible 4G smartphone. In the app, tap on the ‘Get Jio SIM’ option, and you will be asked to fill in details like name, alternate mobile number, and location to verify if the offer is available for you. This process will generate a unique code that needs be shown when getting the SIM card.
Take the code along with valid address proof and one passport-sized photo to the closest Reliance Digital or Reliance Digital Xpress Mini store. Submit the documents to get your hands on a free SIM card, and once accepted you will receive an SMS on your alternate mobile number. The last step involves inserting the Jio SIM card in your smartphone and dialing on 1977 to activate it.
